Stanford University - Innovation, Plurality and Drupal
This is the story of how Drupal became the CMS of choice at Stanford University, going from a handful of sites in 2006 to hundreds of sites today. Rather than a top-down decision, it was a gradual process that began as a grassroots initiative culminating in central support and development.
The motto of the University is "die luft der freiheit weht" —that sentiment permeates all levels of the organization and its entrepreneurial spirit. The inherent flexibility and power of the Drupal platform, coupled with an ardent in-house developer base, is why Drupal continues to grow at Stanford and across the higher education vertical. This presentation is a detailed account of the steps required to bring Drupal beyond the Tipping Point at Stanford, and the enormous ROI we are witnessing now.

Growing and Managing Drupal Organisations
The success of any IT project, Drupal site development included, depends on the people. The key to success is hiring only good people, avoiding mediocrity, and growing the knowledge of the team with each and every project. This is easier said than done.
The session discusses how to create, grow, and develop a Drupal organisation and to keep your business afloat. The main emphasis is on acquiring and maintaining talented individuals and focusing their energy on a common goal.
The first part of the session elaborates building a Drupal organisation as a Drupal vendor, and the second part discusses creating a Drupal organisation as a customer.

Optimize conversions with A/B Testing
A/B Testing is a fundamental concept that will help you improve your conversion rate on almost all online processes. Thus your costs per lead can be cut down drastically and the number of successful conversions easily improved.
The multivariate module (A/B Testing is formally a simplified Multivariate Test) provides deep integration to add testing cases to your Drupal site. Almost all processes onsite can be covered and variations tested.
We'll show you how to setup a test and get valueable information about your clients to better understand your customers, improve your strategy and simply test multiple variants instead of guess what might work best. Sometimes you will get really unexpected results and it's worth trying things!
Learn also from showcases and success stories on amazing results this concept / module helped to reach.

Upgrade your offer! How to sell business value.
The market for Drupal services is maturing, and so must our offers. In order to stay relevant and be competitive as more enterprise customers enter the market, Drupal shops need to shift focus to delivering business value, and not just code. In this session I will talk about how NodeOne's offer centering around business value, rather than just "sites done to spec", has changed how we work and whom we work with. How much more fun we have now. And how you can do the same.

An Enterprise Scale Drupal Workflow
Traditionally Drupal workflows have focused on publishing individual nodes on the production site. Larger non media organisations often want to manage a collection of small content changes as a single job. The content of a job needs to be reviewed by multiple stakeholders before being published. In addition to nodes or entities, it is likely that blocks and other elements may need to be deployed as part of a job. This needs to be handled in a coordinated way.
Dave Hall will give an overview of the implementation of an enterprise Drupal workflow that he designed and implemented with Technocrat for Insurance Australia Group (IAG). IAG is one of the 50 largest companies in Australia and one of the biggest insurance companies in Australasia. IAG migrated their Direct Insurance website from Autonomy Teamsite to Drupal. The project involved building a workflow management system that implemented accepted best practices in terms of content and configuration management, but extended it to support a job centric, enterprise friendly workflow.

Managing large Drupal projects with multiple partners
Larger Drupal projects are usually not handled by one service provider alone. There usually is one lead agency that then adds partners for specialized development, hosting, design, SEO, information architecture and other aspects of the project.

The real value of open source: ROI and beyond
Learn about the real values offered by the open source model and how to pitch it without "sounding like a software hippie".
Using open source solutions like Drupal can save you money. Hurray! The bottom line always counts, especially today. No one should be wasting money. When businesses waste money, they shut down. When governments waste money, there are much worse, much broader consequences.
But there are important reasons to use open source solutions beyond the price tag. The "Four Freedoms" that define open source software also define real business value: innovation, cost-savings, and risk mitigation. If you understand the true value in open source software and in a massively successful project like Drupal, you can bring your organization real benefits and add real value.
Let's think open source (let's think Drupal!), be its champions and explain it to our colleagues, bosses, friends, and decision makers: whether your MP, European bureaucracy, or marketing department.

The Drupal Process - great projects, no slavery required
After working some 15 years with web projects I have been both service provider and customer for a large number of different projects. I've seen and tried number of different methods how to run web projects. After both success and failure I have come to realize that agile scrum can fail just as easily as traditional waterfall models do when dealing with Drupal projects.
Drupal in it's current versions can't really decide if it is a framework or a product and this creates some unique headaches for project managers and customers. To make things even more complicated most efficient project management models focus on having the team physically in one room and many companies are either virtual or at least geographically split in multiple locations.
In this session I will speak about our experiences on different ways of doing Drupal projects and present our current best practices for successful projects. There are no silver bullets, but many practical ideas both small and large. I will also challenge the audience to share their experiences, tips and ideas.
